Each world has existed on it's own plane of existence, never intermingling with another. But a dark force has driven the once separate worlds together in an attempt to rule over everything. Strange gateways have formed outside of major cities allowing friend and foe to venture forth. In each world lay a sleeping power, hidden away and maintaining life and energy for its denizens. Should it be taken away, all life would dwindle away and the world would be left in ruin. But the more one controls allows for that world's power to be your own as your own world thrives. Will you save yourself and leave others to fall or will you rise up to protect those in need? Or perhaps you as well seek the ultimate power and wish to see the worlds in ruin. Where will you stand as calamity strikes?

Every Final Fantasy world has been mashed into one, by an unknown entity. Each world has their own varying magic and way of life, sustained by a power source hidden away in each respective world. Should they be lost, the world would slowly die and wither away becoming a breeding ground for the foulest of beasts. The one responsible for the merging of worlds is after these precious resource, in order to make their own world thrive and achieve limitless power and control. The more sources one holds, the more powerful they become. But be careful. There are those who would only wish to take your source in order to further protect their home, or to keep it all for themselves and claim this new world their own. Travel between worlds can be made by boat are airship but there are also portals hidden away inside large cities allowing quick navigation between the distant lands. Each portal leads into a large white open space, encircled by other portals with a glimpse into their respective worlds. The clashing of new worlds also caused a disruption in the flow of life, as those who had already passed on found themselves among the living again with a second chance at life.
